Could you be 'in charge' of bills/finances/budget?
it's definitely something that you guys would want to discuss.

We just decided to do it based on income. I'm in social services and he's in advertising so his earning potential was greater, my salary wouldn't even cover day care. So I took a contract position while I was pregnant that I knew would expire by the time the baby came, and just took the odd work gig when convenient after she was born. So during office hours he's working and I'm handling kids, when we're both home childcare is pretty much 50/50. We're both very involved in parenting despite me being the primary caregiver. Once both kids are in school we'll both work during the day and share childcare 50/50 when we're both home. It works for us. Factoring in childcare costs we aren't losing any money, nor do we feel resentful over division of labor or miss out on spending time together or as a family. It's doable. Money can be tight, but we're just extremely careful with saving and budgeting and don't use credit.

My DH works 3pm to 3am. I work 8am to 4pm. We make it work and are lucky Grandma helps when we need it but otherwise they'd go todaycare.

Yeah. I will graduate in may 2014 and we will be in our own place while he is in school. And by that time both kids will be in school

I work and I'm a student. My son goes to work with me, and my classes are online, so my 4 year old son is with me all the time pretty much.

My husband is a part-time student. He goes to school a couple hours a week.

I pretty much already am. I have good credit so the credit cards are in my name and he give me the money when they are due, And pge and water and all that I let him know when its due. Its just rent that is hard because its really expensive in San Francisco bay and so ya my dad is our landlord and we pay the monthly on the house but I got laid off and havent found a job and SO just got this job 3 weeks ago. But I know it would be hard for him to try and pay the rent by himself also my dad is old and health issues so I dont know how much longer he will be around so Im not sure how much our rent will be or where will will be when we have the baby.

My classes are online too. I dont have a major yet though, I would love to find something that I can bring my kid too. I know when the kid is old enough I could work the hours that he or she is at school but until then I dunno because I want to help out with rent and bills.

I have to work. I'd rather be a SAHM. But fortunately, I don't have to leave my kid to do it, or it would be a whole hell of a lot harder for me. :/

I'm studying accounting and work for a CPA. Kind of a detour, considering I already have degrees in psychology and history, but, eh, I get to have my son with me, so it is worth it... lol Fortunately, my college offers a lot of online classes, so it's the rare semester I have to go on campus.

For us, when i had my first son, we both worked during the day while LO was in daycare and i was going to school at night. It was a lot of money though so when we had our second baby, i ended up staying home with them. It would have been close to $400 per week for both of them. Maybe a little more than that actually.

Money is comfortably tight with the 3 boys if that makes sense with only DH working. I mean we have to budget, but we still pay all of our bills on time and everyone is fed. We also go on vacation in the summer for a week too.

The plan is for me to go back to work after my youngest is in school.

We alternate. If he's at work and the kids are at home, I'm caring for them. If I have school and he's not working, he cares for them. If he has work and I have school, they go school, daycare, or the sitters.
