Traumatized toddler

posted 21st Feb
Ill try not to go into details, but a few weeks
Ago something happened in our family and I think it affected my 2.5 year old more than I thought it would. She is havig severe separation anxiety and has been wetting the bed almost every night.
She completely FREAKS out every time either SO or I have to be separated from her. Like this morning, SO & I were cooking breakfast.
We realizes we forgt something and I had to run downto the store right down the street really fast. Wen I started getting dressed and ready to leave LO flipped out and was blocking the door. I triedcalmingbher down and asked if she wanted to go with me. She said "no! I want you to stay here with me ad daddy!" I explained I needed to go to get food and I will be back really soon. She said "can daddy come with us?" I told her no because he was in the middle of cooking. She was standing In front if the door with her hands out blocking me from leaving. Then I walked to tw other door to leave that way and she ran as fast as she could screaming "no mommy please don't leave!!" she was trying so hard to not let me leave.
She only wants all 3 of us to be together 24/7. She dosnt just want to be with 1 of us. She wants to be with both of us at the same time.
She was never like this before "it" happened.

Even when we all go to a store together, she still freaks out and says that she just wants to stay home with all of us together.

She says she dosnt want to leave beause she dosnt want "them" to take daddy away

It hurts my heart so bad. I had no idea it would affect her this bad.
What should I do???
I kid of want to take her to the doctor, to see if there is anything I can do for her. And it would be also super helpful in court if I could get a doctors note saying that she is traumatized. (would a doctor even do that?)
What should I do?? How can i help her??

Maybe talk to her pedi about seeing a therapist for her? If you have medicaid I believe they will pay for it if it is recommended by your regular doctor.

I'm so sorry for whatever has happened to traumatize her like that and I hope she can recover from this.

Yes you could take her to the doctor and they could refer you to a child psychologist or family therapist to help her work through whatever trauma she's been through. Poor little thing.

What would a therapist do for a kid that young? I don't even know how LO would react..

A child psychologist I'll have ways to help her access and deal with what she's feeling and what caused it. Thu can also give you tools to help you and her dad get passwd it and make her feel safe and secure again.

well they dont talk to them like they do us its more so they talk w mom and dad see what happened how she changed and they try and eveluate the child to see what could be done to reverse or help the issues

ETA... theyre also like educated to read reactions and like they dont always get through to the child in one session but its the same with adults. try calling and seeing if someone could could out to yourr home maybe to make it easier.
