Making Friends?

Okay, stupid question. For those of you who have friends you did NOT meet in school (or grow up with) how did you meet them?

I've moved a few times now, and I have no friends. None. It's been nearly a decade since I've hung out with a person who is not related to me (or when I went to a Christmas party with my husband).

This is sad, I know. The problem is I'm a SAHM. I don't really go anywhere. I want to start some more classes soon, and maybe meet people there, but I'm so tired of having no friends at all.

How do you meet friends? haha. Do you just strike up conversations randomly? How do you ever see those people again? I told my husband I needed "Be my friend" business cards to hand out to perspective friends. lol

I've moved around a bit so I usually become friends with wives of my husband's friends. It's always people from our own country though. I have no idea how I would ever make friends with American girls without having gone to school or working with them.

I dunno, if you figure it out, please let me know.

I was just thinking the same thing. lol I've lived in the same town for my ENTIRE life, DH just started working in a different state so we'll be moving there after DS is born. I have no idea how to make new friends, I've had the same friends since I was in kindergarten & now they'll all be 6 hours+ away!

Someone I know posted in the Strictly Platonic on CL under F4F. Not sure how that went for her though. I've met a couple of people from school, and a few moms at the playground or my son's therapy and school classes...I'm mostly friendless too though lol

Work when I first moved. And the park. Now I sell Mary Kay and have met other consultants who I've become friends with.

Honestly. When i moved from OH to NM i knew no one. And made friends through FB. I looked up a play date group and im friends with alnl those moms. Ive made good friends through neeting moms at the zoo and stuff like that.

How does the park work? I never see the same people. It's a little forward to be like "Hey, will you be my friend? Here's my number!"

I guess I'm used to things where you're put in the same situation as people for a while (work, school, stuff like that) and ease into hanging out. haha

I'm such a loser. I haven't even really dated anyone since my husband and I have been together since we were in high school. Sigh.

Haha, I'm the same way. I feel very odd (and people tend to act a little strange  ) if you just walk up to someone and start talking.

Exactly! And even if we do strike up a conversation, it's like, how do you move that beyond just small talk to actually becoming friends.

I feel like I need dating advice. haha. I need to figure out how to seal the deal.

I met my only current non-school, work or related friend on BG.
