re: Making Friends?

I've met a lot of people through BG actually, LOL. I also make friends at the park or the bus stop. I do strike up conversations randomly. I usually am standing or sitting near people at those places so I say "hi" and make a general comment "Glad the weather is finally warming up" or something along those lines. If they respond I try to continue the conversation by introducing myself. Most people like talking about themselves so I ask questions like "How long have you lived here? I'm new and still finding my way around.", make jokes about how I'm always getting lost or something like that. Asking about their kids works too. If they are friendly back before we leave I'll leave a vague open invitation. "We come here a lot and the kids seem to get along so maybe we can meet up again sometime. It gets boring watching them play by myself, haha.". Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but I've found that making the first move has a pretty high success rate, LOL Kids are a pretty good ice breaker

My son has a name I rarely hear. He started playing with a little boy and I heard them arguing. Turns out they were fighting because they both have the same name but thought they were teasing each other lol. So we bonded over ours boys' names.

I've made friends as an adult playing sports, at work, co-workers of my husband's, bandmates of my husband, playgroups, playgrounds, classmates of my daughter and friends of friends. I do live in the city that I grew up in, so that makes things easier too (I still have friends from high school and some of my friends from university live in this city too).

I'm not good at making friends though. I really find that sports make things easier. When we do have friends over, we usually eat and/or play games (board or video) or go out to dinner and bowl or skate or see a band.

The only friend I have is a wife of my husbands friend   He's in the Army so I knew absolutely no one when we moved here. All my old friends are like a 26 hour drive away!

The only few friends I have, more like acquaintances, I met through work or DH. I'm also a SAHM, and never really get out or do anything. I don't consider any of them close friends because I don't talk to any of them on a regular basis. Sucks. :-/

I don't make friends easy either becuase I am very awkward in public and around strangers. I still have my friends from highschool, and my coworkers (who some are my friends from highschool haha) and that is about it besides family. I don't get out and about much either and in the town we live in you really don't want to make too many friends becuase they can be scary haha the only thing people every talk to me about is our dogs and that is becuase they are not a popular breed and people want to argue with me about what kind of dogs they are and that they are muts :-/

At working, he was a customer and was hitting on me, but I was engaged at the time. Ended up being best friends.

Other than that, just online through the gaming community or here or something.
