Oatmeal and a ton of water. If you get dehydrated it kills your supply.

other than that I wouldn't use any supplements unless necessary. You should be fine though. Most women don't have supply issues. They have bad advice. So ask on here before anyone tries to get you to do anything besides nurse your baby on demand!!! Good luck.

Fenugreek and brewers yeast supplements were life savers for me. I did have supply issues in the beginning because of my son's health issues and the hospital limiting how much I could feed him. But if you get off to a good start, you should be fine.

Just make sure you are drinking a lot and eating enough. Don't supplement and feed whenever baby wants to eat. I thought I had supply issues with my first because he would cluster feed a lot so I supplemented and killed my supply. This time I just make sure I drink constantly and feed baby when he wants. Some evenings he will eat for about 3hours straight constantly on and off the boob every 10/15 min but its normal. After one of his feedings today I was still able to pump 2oz in about 5 min, hes a week old.

If you do decide to use a supplement, Red Raspberry Leaf makes your milk thicker and helps produce more. It also helps tone the uterus before labor. I wouldn't use it super early in the pregnancy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 2nd trimester is when most midwives reccomend starting to take it.

You could start it then if you wanted to. Some people like suppliments and others don't. It's supposed to help with labor too though.

No it shouldn't. They're both over the counter, you can pick them up at walmart or any vitamin/health food store.   Drinking lots of water will really help because that's where your milk is going to come from. It's not so much coming from food. When I was pumping after I went back to work, I was drinking a 16 oz bottle of water in between pumpings to keep my supply up. But you should be fine. Like I said before, we got off to a rough start!! I wouldn't worry about it just yet. If you end up having any issues, you have us to help you every step of the way.

Don't let that scare u. Back then bfing wasn't as researched as it is now. People didn't have the knowledge and support they do now. Still there's a lot of awful info out there. There's a veeerrrrry small percentage of moms who can't bf or don't make enough milk. Just nurse on demand and ask for a LC if u need one. Ask on here too. Some nurses give aaaawful advice so just ask here if it seems off. Most likely you don't need supplements. Some people take them and didn't even need them to begin with.
