Repost: got reported to my employer

I'm so mad. I am always going above and beyond for my job. And always SO nice to customers.

The other day a woman came in to apply for financing. I told her we use two banks, Wells Fargo, and GE. She asked which bank was more lenient, and I told her WF was much stricter and if she has any credit issues we should just try GE. She agreed and filled out an application. I told her I needed a drivers license or some type of ID, and a major credit or debit card because the terminal has a numeric keypad. Without the card we can't run the application, it needs a "strip" to swipe to pull up the applicants name.

She got all angry (I didn't know why, it's the same procedures for every single customer) and she came back about ten minutes later and handed me her access card. I explained to her that is not a valid card for this machine and she couldn't use it. And she said why not? It's how she uses all her income because she doesn't have a bank account. I told her if she didnt have any kind of bank account it would be really hard to get approved.

So I tried her with Wells Fargo, since she had no card for me to use for GE. For her monthly income she put $600 dollars, and on a separate line she wasn't even supposed to fill out, she wrote "Food stamps $300"

I submitted the application and it came back declined.
I told her there's other options we have RAC or we could lay it away.

She was SOO angry. She asked me if I included her food stamps as income and I told her I couldn't but I could put it in the comments section, which I did, that she has additional outside income.

She stormed out.

Apparently she called my corporate office to report me for being mean to "poor people" and making "derogatory remarks about lower class people"

WTF!!! I never did that! And I never would. I'm smurfing pissed that she did that. My boss called me and told me and I was so heated.

Wow that sucks. Just explain the situation to whoever's in charge of you - I'm sure he/she knows your work style and temperament well enough by now. If this is the first and only complaint you should be fine.

People suck. I had a similar thing happen to me when I was a server and someone tried to pay with their access card. And I almost got fired over it. Smurf corporate, the customer is not always right.

I'm hopeful because my other coworkers were there to vouch for me. It sucks I was not mean AT ALL! I really wanted her to get approved she wanted a new bed for her LO. My boss said a lot of people complain to the corporate office and then ask for a gift card as reciprocation. Maybe that's what she was trying to do? Idk :/

She sounds like an idiot.. But thats our government, teaching the people of America that you no longer have to work for what you want and they expect everything to be handed to them. I would have been pissed if i was you too.
Did you get in trouble or did your boss believe you?

She probably was. Businesses want to keep people's business so if they complain they usually get something out of it. Shoot we got $150 credit on our U-verse because the box had to be reset and we had to call customer service. I thought the whole thing was odd. Things malfunction and they fixed it. DH's friend got $300 from them because his tv wouldn't sync with their remote. IT is crazy what companies will do to keep people's business.


I know this is going to make me look dumb but what is an access card? Is it like those prepaid cards?

Possibly tho apparently she is being selfish by not realizing that it could put your job in jeopardy....too bad you cant use BG as proof you deal with women who are more than poor which I am sorry but food stamps does not make you poor IMO lol A good percentage of the women on here are on food stamps and wic and I dont see you going out and putting them down for it on here lol

I think it's like a bank card where the state puts unemployment or cash assistance on.

An access card is like a card from the state. Not a credit card, a place where the state can deposit cash assistance, food stamps and child support (if you don't want to receive checks or have a bank account to deposit it into)
