re: Requesting a certain gender dr

I've heard that men have steadier hands. I wonder if it's true. If I were to ever need surgery I would probably want a male surgeon for that reason.

I don't have a preference nor do I have one for my girls but I do feel that they would likely feel more comfortable discussing issues with a female than a male (in the near future) so their pediatrician is a woman.

My ob-gyn is an old guy. He's awesome.

I've had both male and female O/B-GYNs, as long as they're a good doctor I don't care if they're a man or woman.

I have had experiences with both a male and female doctor.

I wasn't happy with neither, lol.

I can not say it'd be descriminatory. Some people just feel more comfortable with one gender rather than the other, especially when it comes to obs/gyn.

I've never cared, but my husband freaked out when he found out that I was going to see a male GYN.

When I was in labor with my son I called for a nurse to check me since I felt a lot of pressure like I was ready to push. A male nurse answered the buzz and told me he'd send someone over, 20 minutes passed and he knocked on my door to ask if I had been checked and I told him I had not. That's when he offered to check me or I could wait for a woman and I was like..."Do you know what you're doing?" Which he said he did, so I told him to check me.

Yes, I only go to women. If it's discriminatory, oh smurfing well. I'm a sexual assault survivor and the only time I had a male doc I freaked.
