pedialyte for infant

on the bottle it says consult pedi for children under one...I don't feel like calling the doctor..how much should I give him...from your expeiance?

Why are you giving it to him?

1-3 tablespoons every hour is what i was told when my son was a few months...it may be more though. He hated the stuff...it was really hard to get him to take that much.

When my son had pneumonia i would feed him pedilyte instead of formula. He helped break up the congestion. He was 6 months old. I would ask your pedi.

hmmm...i never gave my son pedialyte for that, only throwing up. Not saying you can't, but you might want to call anyway.

Even though it might be a pain you should probably call your doctor. He would probably like to know your baby has diarrhea.

How many diapers of diarrhea has he had?

I let my son have 2 to 5 ounces depending on how much he wants. My doctor had me start giving him it when he was 3 months i think cause he had pneumonia (SP). She says it's fine for him to have it just as long as it isn't giving to him instead of formula cause he still needs his formula. (my son loves it still and we use it to make his cereal cause it's the only way he likes it).

My doctor told me to give him clear pedilyte, the amount of formula he takes. Give him an ounce, wait 15 minutes, give him another ounce, wait 15 minutes...etc until he is up to what he normally eats. But that was for throwing up.

You should really call your pedi. That isn't something to mess with.

wow...Torrey LOVES it...I watered it down cuz he liked it so much...oh and BTW everyone I am gonna go call his pedi right now...hope I donb't get a hassle

psh I jsut called and they said I need to bring him in..I feel like crap and I don't feel like going out at all...so I am just gonna deal with it (unless I have mother intuition to do other wise) in another post some ladies suggest bananas and applesauce I tried both and he wouldn't eat them...he is breastfeeding so I am letting him eat as much as he wants...
