You should tell him the baby has already beat his odds and he's going to make it.
I know how he feels because i lost my first pregnancy and then with this one i didn't think about it much, i was afraid i was going to lose this one too, going to my appointments knowing one day i may not hear a heart beat or see anything moving.

If you don't mind me asking, how long has it been since you lost your son? I lost my boy about two and a half years ago and I honestly thought my fiance' would act the same way your SO is, but I'm actually being the more distant one. He's constantly talking about her and how excited he is for her, and I'm the one freaking out on the inside worried something could happen. I mean.. we've picked a name and we'll talk about her and stuff.. but I've found myself procrastinating because I'm afraid something could still go wrong.
