Graco Nautilus crotch strap

I'm trying to move the crotch strap forward and I can't get the damn thing out. I'm so pissed I'm about to break it. I moved the metal piece sideways and tried to force it through and nothing. I even tried to force it then sit on the seat and pull it through. Is there a magic secret to this or something?

I did. Apparently I'm not the only parent who's had this issue. I gave up.

I just did this on the display Nautilus in the Babies R Us store without a problem. I fed the metal plate through the slot by turning it on its side and feeding the short end through. Not trying to feed it through on its long edge. It means some of the strap gets twisted and pulled through at the same time as the plate but it does work. HTH
