Implanon question..

posted 20th Feb
I have the Implanon and I have researched side effects and other things that go along with it. I have a major issue with the decreased sex drive. Is there anything they can give me to help or do I need to go with a different birth control? I am horrible about remembering pills, and I had a terrible experience with the depo shot....

Help?

I had the same issue. I thought it was first at great and then my sex drive went straight down hill. I wanted it out and they tried talking me out of it. Once out, I felt back to normal after a couple weeks.

What about the patch? Mirena?

I am terrified of getting the Mirena. I wanted to try a non-hormonal bc to see how that works? Do you have any experience with Paraguard?

I don't. I was the SAME exact way as you. I didn't want the Mirena and they STRONGLY wanted me to try the Paraguard because I have such a hard time with hormones. I was in the middle of researching and then found out a week later I was pregnant, so yeah. That isn't going to happen soon, lol.

I've heard good and bad things about it. Although it is not hormonal it is still a foreign object inside of your body. Some love it, some hate it I guess.

Well, congrats on your pregnancy! I am not trying to have a baby right now, even though I have crazy baby fever! I will probably talk to my ob/gyn about it and see where to go from there. I just hate this feeling. I love sex or atleast I used to. lol

Thank you! Yeah, definitely wasn't planned, but totally okay with it!
I hear ya. When my sex drive died I was so sad. Lol. If you do end up getting the Paraguard, let me know how it is!

I had Paragard but after 5 months of nonstop bleeding I had it removed two weeks ago. I didn't have any other side effects and if it wasn't for the bleeding I would have kept it in.

That sounds like me on the Depo Shot. I bled for 169 days straight. Then in turn got pregnant on it. I don't know what to do.
