Breast milk in bottles for you experts
posted 20th Feb
Okay my son is 2 months. He took his first bottle today. I'm wondering a few questions. 1. After I pump can I directly put the bottle in the fridge. 2. How much does a 2month old need? 3. I need to take a bottle with me to town so my husband can feed while I'm in the dentist. Do I take the bottle out of the fridge cold put in the diaper bag and use it when needed(time frame) or do I take the bottle out of the fridge warm it than put it in the diaper bag and use it when needed. I have a bottle warmer for the car so could I reheat it if it got cold?? Hope I'm not confusing y'all lol also can someone give me time frames for storing

1. yes
2. Maybe 4 or 5 oz?
3. You can keep it unrefrigerated for up to 6 hours because of the antibacterial properties in the milk.

Yes you can refrigerate right after pumping, I believe it's only good for 4hours at room temp.
Then when you take it out, I'd keep it cold until ready to use, then heat it.
As far as how much, I'm not sure, my son is 3 weeks and I leave SO a 5 ounce bottle whenever I need to go out, and it's gone by the time I get home.
And my son eats like a savage, lol, he's gained 13oz in the last 8 days.

Don't heat it first...a bottle is good out of the fridge for a long time and it may be warm enough that you won't even need the bottle warmer. My son actually liked it cold. Anyway, yes you can put a pumped bottle straight into the fridge. And there is no set amount for your son to eat.

At that age, my daughter ate about 3 ounces.

I'd say he'll eat whatever you pump out of one boob (or both if he takes both at a single feeding)
