Christening...

posted 20th Feb
Is there such a thing as "too old" to be christened? My DD is 8 DS1 is nearly 3 and LO almost 8 weeks.
DD is from a previous relationship, and we both didn't care too much about religion to even think about it.
When DS1 was born, SO who is catholic wanted to get him christened. Once again it didn't bother me, and we both forgot about it. Same happened when LO was born.

Anyways SIL is having her DS 1st bday/christening on the 10th. So the question came up again. I told him that it doesn't bother me if they are christened or not, but if he really wants to then we can. But we have to get all 3 done, not just the boys.
I don't know much about it, but is there an age limit for christenings?

I personally feel there is a "too young" to be christiened, but never too old. People should be christened when they want to be, and understand why it's happening.

Is it like a whole service type thing?

It's a small little ceremony where they say a prayer and stuff, then pour a small amount of water on their head. Personally, I opt out of going because religious stuff makes me uncomfortable.

There's not an age limit at all... my friends went to church all their lives but weren't baptized til 10 since their mom was Episcopalian (Christian) and their dad is jewish... and they went to both services until they were 10 and decided which they liked better... they're both baptized and confirmed Episcopal though
