My neighbor had her little girl 12 weeks ago, by repeat C-Section. Her 5 year old boy was there the whole time, waiting in the Family room and as soon as he was able, went in to see his Sister. They told me it was a great experience and they couldn't have imagined it any other way.

I'd really like my son to be there. I guess I'm scared if something were to go wrong I wouldn't want him there for that craziness.

But so far I am having a healthy pregnancy and trying to stay positive.

I just don't know what people usually do!

I took my daughter to daycare then went in for my c section.. my mom picked her up later that day and brought her to the hospital to visit. It went pretty well

I think it should be fine. I mean, he won't actually be in the room with you, so if the off chance something does happen he won't actually see it.

I haven't had this problem (yet) but my mom was in this situation when she had my sister (she already had me) I stayed with my grandparents the night before my mom went into the hospital (she had a planned c-section so that helped with planning too) and then after she had my sister (around noon) my grandparents and I were informed and they got me ready and we went to the hospital. I stayed for a few hours and then went back to my grandparents' house until my mom was released from the hospital (my dad stayed with her). They waited for my mom to get everything situated at home and ended up taking me to the neighborhood park once we got there since my mom had just gotten my sister to sleep so they took a nap... then my grandma stayed with me for the rest of the day (and night) and came back each morning for the first two weeks (after staying the first night). Since she lived nearby my mom said it was ideal because if she needed her mom to come in the middle of the night she could've called her but by then I was a pretty heavy sleeper and my sister was in my parents' room at the time so she rarely woke me.   best of luck mama!

My daughter was 7 and we all wanted her to be there and she wanted to be there. We weren't planning on a c-section but that's what ended up happening. She stayed with the nurses because we have no family here. One of my husband's managers came to the hospital though because she just had a feeling she needed to be there. She is also my friend (She was 70 at the time) who passed away February 6th. Still dealing with her passing.

This is true! I guess I am just worrying because of my last csection. Which was an emergency and not planned so hopefully things run smoother.

I don't know why but I just feel like I really want him to be there!

my mom is watching my son too! but she will defiantly be there when the baby is born. That's why she asked what I was doing.

And it made me think!! I do have in laws but it would be a lot more taking my son here and there and traveling if I go that route. Plus I didn't want to see them for a long time.

I'd just have them wait in the waiting room if you feel comfortable with that... DH and I were talking about when we wanna start trying for #2 DS is only 4 months so it won't be too soon... but we were thinking about where he'd be and what not when I deliver but idk if I'll be trying for a VBAC or scheduling a c-section if #2 is as big as DS then I'll plan the c-section and have DS wait in the waiting room with one of his grandmas and his godfather plus the really cool thing about the waiting room at our hospital is it has a window into the room where they do all the weighing and measuring and first bath and what not after the babies arrive (I'd say nursery but our hospital does all in room sleeping so it's not really a traditional nursery) but I think it'd be fun for him to be able to see the other babies who came in and see his little brother or sister as soon as possible after they're born

Yes that's a good idea. I know there is a waiting room so I guess that's where they would wait

It was only my mom last time so she got to be right in the maternity ward and was the first one to hold him. This time it will probably be DH. I made him stay with me in the OR last time because I was terrified. I'll let him go this time.. hopefully lol

Yah my doctor has offered a VBAC. We're seeing at 32 weeks what the baby might weigh. But it was totally off last time and my son was huge. I had pre e too hopefully I won't again.

I know there was siblings waiting in the hallway while moms were birthing last time we were there.

I was lucky, because my kids are older they were in school during my c-section. We have no family here so it was the only way my husband was going to be able to be present during my procedure. Good luck mama!!!

Mine were there the entire time. Well, they left to get food but came back before I was out. They were 3yrs 9mos and 4yrs 10mos. They came in the recovery room as soon as I was in there. They stayed from about 9a until 8p the first day then went to my aunt's house (they live right across the street from our home) I wouldn't have had it any other way either.
