Yep. It never is... My MIL tried to give my 11 month old mountain dew last weekend. I had to say no and calmly walk away the best I could. lol.

I would have said, "Nope! Maybe in 7 more months!"


You need to learn how to stand up for you and LO now you're a mommy or people are going to walk all over you and your decisions, hun.

holy smurf uhm TAKEN IT AWAY!? YOU are the parent, you are fully within your rights to tell her that sugar is not appropriate for a child under a certain age and the only thing going into her until 6 months old will be teet or bottle.

My MIL did something like that too and I was pissed. She blamed it on "grandparents right" and I told her it wasn't safe and the next time she does something like that, it will be the last time for a long time. Although I don't want anything to do with her anyways and haven't talk to her since the New Year. My MIL is a huge bitch though.
Sit your mother down sometime and explain to her how you feel. Tell her that eventually she can give your LO all sorts of candy. But right now, you don't feel comfortable with it. She may be grandma but you are MOM. Tell her she can find other ways to spoil your child. Just not with suckers.
