They just factor in the diagnosis/disability and your income.

We were denied though. My husband who is military apparently makes too much   Our son has autism.

Go to the SSI website. I filed online and it went fast. The only footwork I had to do was collect pay stubs and sign a paper, then take it into the office.

We are a little over the income limits so they deduct DH countable income from the max allowable amount.

Im unemployed, will that hurt his chances? My son has autism too. There is a possibility that he also has seizures. His doctor wants to rule out because he stares off and it takes two "Caiden!" to get his attention and his mother, uncle, and grandfather all have epilepsy.

Get out your phonebook, look for a disability lawyer. Hire him. Many doctor appointments will follow then there is a court date which you may or may not have to show up to.
I get ssi. I was injured as a child. My mom hired me a disability lawyer. I have had 14+ mris, xrays, and ct scans. I have a disk from a hospital with my mri. I handed that over to my lawyer and I won within a few months. I also had been seeing like 10 doctors so the lawyer contacted the doctors for my records from them. I never went to the hearing.... They might deny you the first time, but don't sweat it. They usually do deny people the first time.

It was fairly easy for me.. I went in with my husbands death certificate, mine & my sons birth certificate..& then i answered questions about whether i was pregnant, working, where i was living, ect. & then gave them bank account info.. after that we left.

We're going to a neurologist tomorrow for a consult. Absence seizures is what we think my son has but this was unknown at the time.

Being unemployed wont hurt your sons chances. I would look up your local SS office info and they can have you make an appointment for phone or in office. We did a phone appointment and they mailed me all the info.

Do you mind if I PT you since we're going through the same thing? I had that kind.
