making baby food help

I've been making my own baby food for my 5 month old. I just got peaches and avocados...do I have to cook either of those first? I don't think I have to cook the avocado to soften it, but do I have to cook the peaches first to soften them more? Sorry these are probably dumb questions

Does your lo have teeth, if so, I'd just finely chop it up.

Not the avocado. Just cube it and let him feed it to himself or mash it of you insist on purées.

The peaches you may want to blanch. Cut Xs on the sides and drop in a boiling pot of water until the skin starts to fall off. Drop them in cold water h til they're cooled enough to handle and peel the skin off. Then cut the meat off and do what you want with it.

Avacado and Banana you don't need to cook, I cooked everything eles though.

Thanks everyone, I have the baby bullet so I've been doing the puree thing with foods so far. And she does not have any teeth yet.

Okay I was going to ask if you had that....do you happen to have the baby bullet steamer? I had that and it comes with a book that tells you which setting to cook everything on, good investment if you don't have it I loved it and it cut cook times in half  

I usually cooked peaches to make them softer, and would usually use the water that was used to cook the fruit to help thin the puree to my girls liking.

I steam everything to make it softer.

No I don't have that. I have a mini crockpot so I was just using that like I cut up a sweet potato and put a little water in with it and let it cook for a few hours while I'm gone to school or whatever. Then I used the water in with it when I pureed it.

Ohh, potatoes take the longest with the steamer but they still only take 14 minutes! Anyways whatever works for you  !!

I'm ok with the little crockpot, my mom got it for me for Xmas so I might as well get some use out of it.
