bumbo chair

posted 20th Feb
Does anyone have one for there LO? I hear they are really good and safe, is that your experience? I am suppose to go get one for LO today but don't know much about them. I didn't see an age require or anything on the package. So if you have one when did you put LO in it?

TIA

I don't intend to put DS in one until he has better balance & can sit up well. I wouldn't wanna be put in a chair when I was super wobbly because I know it would kill my back lol

We bought one for DS. It was a huge waste of money. We hardly ever used it.

I had one for my daughter with the tray. I can't remember how old she was when we first started using it, but I feel like it was worth it.

I was told by Bub's infant development worker that they're not good for babies because of the way they sit in them, kind of hunched.

I was going to buy one but they were 60 bucks. Glad I didn't get it.

I bought a used one but baby isn't here yet. HOWEVER, I have heard from people who absolutely love them... to my 5 MO nephew who can't fit in it due to too chubby of legs. So it sounds like they have a pretty short usefulness. And you can't use them until baby can lift their head up on their own. Also, I've heard some reviews that it is bad for their spine, so I'm not planning to use it much.

I see them on craigslist all the time. I paid $10 for the seat off Craigslist and then found the tray attachment for $5.50 at Once upon a Child. I would never have bought this new due to not knowing if it will work for MY baby, if they will like it, and how long they will use it.

There are safety issues because people ignore the warnings to ONLY use on the floor. They put them on chairs and counters and the babies fall. You can order a free seatbelt kit online from the company, but the new ones come with it installed I think. I ordered it but haven't installed it yet. Waiting to see if we want to or feel it is in the way (since I will only be using one floor anyway, that's not far to fall!).

I am also getting mine used for $15. They were $40 at Walmart and I almost bought one new last night. But then found the used one. I am picking it up today.

I thought the seatbelt was required for safe use? Back when my sister first bought one a couple years ago I remember a form of recall type thing where they figured out the seatbelt was needed. My nephew was 4-5 months old & was able to kick hard enough to tip himself over if he was wiggling enough

Idr the age but when Lilly could hold up her own head for extended periods and eat solids (we started early) I started putting her in it to eat
She's 2 and still likes to sit in it lol
They're safe but use your common sense.
The whole recall deal was bs IMO the lack of seatbelt shouldn't matter unless you have them on an elevated surface and that's warned against on the insert.
They're safe. On the floor. And used as intended.

I had one for my son, it was a life saver and he loved it and it helped him sit up. I would've got one for my daughter, but my mom bought a different seat for her

Yep, I did the recall form thing to order the free seatbelt installation kit. I have it; I just am waiting to see if it's just pointless in the end, because... maybe they just issued it because of idiots putting them on chairs and counters. How can baby hurt themself if they are in it on the floor? So they tip over... big deal. They tip over sitting on the floor, too! When I got it, I looked at the kit and it looked like it might just ruin the nice squishy/huggy feeling of the original seat, that's why I didn't put it in yet.

With my son I just HAD to have one, and he NEVER used it and hated it. With my daughter, we are still using hers and she will be a year old in four days. We don't have a high chair, so it's a huge saver come feeding time. It's only used on the floor with me sitting right there though. She still fits into fine. I put her in it when she started trying to sit up on her own, and had good head control. She didn't sit fully unsupported for awhile so it was a huge help. Anything can be unsafe in the wrong hands. All I can say is, I've used it forever and never had a problem.

I got the seatbelt after the recall in the summer time, and I put it on with the warning sticker then sold it online. Here you cant resell them if the belt is not attached to it. The sites to sell online will remove your add if they catch it, smae as car seats that are used and drop side cribs etc....

Lol IMO bumbo seatbelts are like installing seatbelts in a beanbag chair. It doesn't make much sense to me either
