Antibiotics side effects?

posted 20th Feb
I started antibiotics yesterday for a uti and straight after my dose I have bad flank pain for about half hour, is this typical of a uti?
I woke up this morning with a purple rash(looks like bruising spots) on my neck, under my chin and burning throat, I've had really bad stomach cramps and diarrhoea after I eat.
I'm taking amoxicillin-trihydrate, are these serious side effects?

The flank pain sounds UTI related, but the rest sounds like pretty textbook side effects. I'd tell your doctor as soon as you can and see if you can switch to another option. Don't want to get a severe reaction.

Just an update, dr said its an allergic reaction and took me off them. Said they may cause an anaphylactic shock if I continued them.

Im so glad you got it checked out! I have an allergy that causes anaphylactic shock myself, and it's AWFUL. Like, I'm talking suffocating, chest pains as your heart slows, blind for days with eyes swollen shut. Totally terrifying. Thank god you caught it before a really severe reaction set in.

Omg that's scary, I'm sorry you've been through that, that is awful
Thank you so much for your help otherwise I would've just stayed on them and waited, so thank goodness!
