mucus plug and labor

question: does the mucus plug come out before you go into labor? is it really abig plug that comes out? any signs of labor i would have to bear in mind aside from the mucus plug,water breaking, etcpls reply. thanks!

my mucus plug fell out almost 2 wks ago... i have contractions, but the dr said he still conciders them BH cause they are mild. The plug doesn't mean a whole lot, just another step toward the end.

when does the mucus plus normally come out? like when should i start looking for it?

edited to say. i didnt lose mine untill the day i whent in to labor, every ones diffrent and loses them at diffrent times

your plug looks like a big ball of snot. all it means is your cervix is open. it means nothing about when you'll go into labor. there are a few wives tales that go with it like you'll go into labor 48hrs after you'll lose it. but that does not go with everyone.

you can lose your plug weeks before you go into labor or like me 48hrs before i got into labor. so it really all depends. but remember just cause you lose your plug doesnt mean you'll go into labor soon.

My mom said it would be mucusy at first then the bloody show and there goes water breaking. I'm so excited and hope something happens within this week or maybe on the 16th which is my due date.

I want to warn everyone though, with your MP coming out, my Doctor and websites have said you are higher at risk to get an infection and when this does happen you should call you doctor to let them know. Also after it comes out that means no more sex lol. That also prevents you from getting an infection so easy.
