She could come any day now she is measuring a week ahead and I'm getting scared. I am more terrified of an epidural then the pain right now, so we are not getting one of those. But I'm also scared about the pain everyone tells me it hurts to much to not get an epidural, which doesn't help me at all. Does anyone have good stories or coping methods they could share.
I thought the actual insertion of the epidural felt glorious. My Best friend was scared of it too though and she had 3 babies with only the use of Stadol each time. Everyone has their own limits, if you want to do it without the epidural then more power to you, screw what everyone else says Hope you have a very easy labor and birth and speedy recovery.
Don't even worry about it, because once you are going through it...you have too much on you mind to be scared. and if you need to epidural...its a peice of cake..for real
Its hard to explain. i was so nervous. but once i was in full blown labor, fear left me and i was just focusing on getting thru the contractions, and i got an epidural after 6 hours of 2 minute apart contractions( i had pitocin, it sucked). The epidural was so darn easy and was the biggest relief ever. PLus it relaxed me and i progressed super fast after that.
Honestly, I just thought of my friend who is the biggest wimp ever, and figured if she could do it, I could too!
You will be fine, mama, just think of having the baby in your arms, the pain is temporary. Good luck!
don't let anyone tell you that you need the epidural. I went without it twice. the first time was honestly not bad. they gave me some pain meds when I got to the hospital, and I slept through most of the labor (hubby says I "woke-up" for each contraction, but I don't remember them). my second hurt, because I was induced, and I asked for the epidural. I didn't get it. at the time I was in so much pain I didn't think I could do it.. but I did. and as soon as it was over, the pain was gone. your body and brain work together to help you forget the pain. I got the epidural with my 3rd, and it was perfect. the shot didnt hurt (just a lot of pressure) and I felt no pain during labor and delivery. with my 4th, they gave me a spinal instead of an epidural, and i didn't feel it worked. I was numb for about 5 minutes, then I felt everything. sometimes the epidural is worth it, sometimes it isn't. either way, don't let someone else try to make your decision. if in the moment you feel you need it, get it. it's not a sign of weakness. I was totally against it, until I needed it.
