Falling down stairs :(

posted 19th Feb
DD and I were going downstairs earlier and she was looking up at me instead of watching the steps, and just as I reminded her, she tripped and fell   She only fell down 3 steps, but she tumbled down. She was bawling her eyes out because it scared her, and I checked her over and she's totally back to normal...one of her bottom teeth bled a little bit, I felt so freaking horrible! It happened so fast I couldn't even stop it!!   I was going to call the ambulance but she got up and walked off, and when I asked her if she was hurt as I was checking her she said "I'm okay mama, don't cry, don't worry, I'm fine" WTF....it almost gave me a heart attack...god I wish I had carpeted stairs!

She's acting totally normal, walking fine, no bumps or bruises and her pupils are reacting normally.....Should I keep her awake to keep an eye on her? I was going to put her to bed, but I don't know if that's a good idea or not now....She's really upset because it's way past her bedtime, so she's cranky and irritable. UGH.   God I feel guilty....this has never happened before.

She's 4 btw.

If she is acting normal then she is probably fine. I would go ahead and put her to bed and just check on her every now and then to make sure.

If she's acting normal and her eyes seem okay then I'd say it's safe to send her to bed. If it was bad you'd be able to tell. Just keep an eye on her through the night.

As long as she doesn't have any knots on her head she should be fine. Whenever my kids take a bad spill I always go check on them about every half hour while they are sleeping, until I go to bed, just to be safe.

I would let her sleep. She's probably fine.

I also heard of a recent study saying that its ok to let people with concussions sleep, just check on them often.

Thanks everyone. I've been checking on her every hour, and waking her, and she seems fine- no different than normal, her pupils still look/respond normally. I felt her head, and I'm not sure if she has a bump on the top of her head, closer to her forehead, or if I'm just imaging things   Why the heck can't I remember if the top of her head normally feels like that? I wonder if I should bring her to the doctor tomorrow...She's acting totally normal, nothing different, isn't complaining of any pain- except that her tooth is a little sore. If something was seriously wrong, 6 hours later, I'd know...right? My poor baby
