Mirena..kinda freaking out

So i just went to the docs today and they put in mirena.. i was kinda iffy about plastic going in me the thought of it makes me shiver..... what are some pros and cons about this birth control ...do you gain weight from it... also i heard your periods can completely stop from it ..... has any one had any complications from it so far..... im just so used to taking pills in the past and never this plastic thing ...btw after he had done everything i instantly felt cramping really bad to the point where i couldnt walk .... i still have cramping and now i have like these tingling feeling on back upper back every now and then idk what its from :/

I get really bad cramps.

I have paragard which is a little different, but same idea. I get really bad cramping from it, but other than that I love it!

Any hormonal birth control can cause your periods to stop and cause weight gain. The cramping is normal after insertion.

If you dont want your periods to stop Id suggest switching to the non hormonal IUD which is Paragard.

Im not a fan of the idea of IUDs either thats why I opted for something different lol.

I already told you, but yeah I gained weight and couldnt lose it no matter what until I got the mirena removed. My periods pretty much stopped after a while, but I sometimes got a random period.
I had it in for like 2 or 2 1/2 years.

Its a side effect of almost all hormonal birth control. But it effects everyone different.

Cons : I had one friend who got pregnant while being on the mirena and it also embedded itself in her uterus and they had to surgically remove it... Another friend that it made her lose a TON of weight and she already had a hard time gaining weight to begin with, and last friend :: Caused bad cramps.

I gained about 40 lbs, but my periods stopped.
