How much do people in the army make?

posted 19th Feb
I'm sure it depends what they do, my brother just graduated from basic training (I think that's what it's called) and he will be diffusing bombs if/when he is deployed.
I didn't want to ask him and sound nosey, I'm just curious. About how much do they make in the training part? And about how much when they are deployed?
And are they paid by the hour? Or how does that work?

Is he reserves or active duty?

Its a set pay based upon your rank, not job or hours. Its easy to find online. Do you know his rank?

I'm not sure what rank, all I know is he was in some training for a few months, and I guess he scored really high on some tests, then he just had a graduation in Georgia, and now him and his wive & kids had to move to Texas.

Sounds like active duty. I havent really heard of people graduating with a rank higher than E3 so I would look there, with less than 1 year or 2 years however the graph has it.

It depends on rank. But if he just got out of training probably no higher ranking than an e4 ( specialist or corporal) But since he is married and has kids. He will be getting paid for his dependents and a housing allowance. We he gets deployed ( to Afghanistan or Iraq) he will get separation pay, housing allowance, and hazardous pay.
Its no where near enough honestly. But he will make more when he is deployed than being in the states.
