If you have the baby at a hospital more then likely they won't give it to you. I would check into, good luck. No way in hell I would do it but its in now days. I hear it's not to bad just get a dehydrator just for that case only.

What does this mean?? I'm confused? What do you keep your placenta for?

I kept my baby attatched for ten minutes, and then 5 minutes later I delivered the placenta. But you can keep it attatched until you deliver it, it stops pulsating, or until the cord looks like no more blood is going through (which is why we clamped my daughters). Not sure about encapsulating, I never would have gotten around to it so we didn't keep the placenta

Why do people do this? I never heard of it.. And what does encapsulating mean?

I would not even think of drinking my placenta. Sorry to say but to me sounds gross...

I am planning a home birth .. I would LOVE to not get PPD this time, so if that can help, I'm doing it! And you can bake it

Google placenta encapsulation benefits

You can do delay clamping and encapsulate the placenta. I'm not sure what the time qualifications are. Mine is still in my freezer (I was planning to encapsulate but didn't find anyone until a week later, I felt amazing during that time so I didn't bother).
I had planned not to cut/clamp the cord until it was out of me but I gave birth in the water and was going to deliver the placenta out of the water and I didn't feel comfortable getting out of the tub with my son still attached .
It doesn't matter if that extra blood is in the placenta or not (or maybe it would be drained first if the cord was clamped right away?).

So you clamped then delivered once it was completely done?
I would like to keep the baby attached until it stopped pulsating.. I'm just not sure if that "ruins" the placenta or not? It really doesn't seem like a difficult process and I had a friend do it.. I just don't know if I'm going to feel like doing it myself, or if it is worth shoveling a couple hundred to get it over with

Your placenta stores iron and hormones which rapidly drop with the process of birth. Ingesting your placenta balances it all out.

It doesn't.
It's pretty important for the baby to get the blood, so I guess it wouldn't really matter if it did or not. It might deminish the iron stores, but I doubt it'd affect the hormones.
This is a 15 minutes delay

Drinking animal products is gross to me, to each their own

Okay, I didn't know you could freeze it! I knew you could put it on ice though.. Does it lose benefits if frozen?
I don't know, I've tried looking up specific time frames, but I'm not really getting anywhere.
