I imagine it would lose some of the benefit by freezing, but since I didn't have anyone to do the encapsulation right away (and I wasn't going to do it), I figured that would be the best option. There really isn't a lot of information (at least not 2.5 years ago), that I could find, anyway  .

Maybe your midwife can refer you to someone who does this regularly and has seen the benefits in multiple women.

I know one of the doulas she referred to me doesn't encapsulation as well (it's on her website as services) .. But I am sure she will know as well. I just need to remember all of my questions at my next appointment!

I'm having mine done, and I'm delivering in the hospital. I have it specified in my paper work not to soak it in formaldahyde. I also told me doctor, doula and DF.

The woman who is doing it for me (I'd honestly probaly puke if I tried) works in the NICU of the hospital where I am delivering and will come pick it up. She said it takes about 48 hours and will bring it after she encapsulates it.

Cost me $150.

actually, you can request for it to be released to you. Most hospitals will release it, but they have different requirements.

encapsulating is very beneficial w/out the gross factor of actually eating it.
if it weren't 200.00, I'd do it.

I'm "planning" on a home birth so i Don't have to worry about getting my placenta.. A couple of the Doulas my Midwife referred me to also encapsulate but the going rate is $250 .. I think id be fine with $150, but an extra hundred bucks, I feel like I could muster up and do it myself
Id love to hear from you after you begin taking the pills to see if you notice a difference! I've only known one person who encapsulated.

I delivered Saturday, so I should get my placeta today. And start takibg the pills around Thursday or Friday.

There is a blog called "my husband ate all my ice cream" she has a page on face book and has AWESOME directions and pictures of how to ecapulate it yourself!! Ive never heard of leaving the placenta attached. What exactly does this do?

Just pulled her up on FB.. Lol is it under recipes ;)
Keeping the baby attached to the placenta until it is done pulsating basically pumps the rest of the nutrients, stem cells, oxygen, etc into the baby
