Give it two weeks. Once it started working I loved it.

It takes two weeks to a month to help fully. It needs to build up. It will change how you handle situations but its not like Ativan or those fast acting medications. It helps in the long term but not short term

I was on Xanax and wanted to get off so I was switched to Buspar...it ended up making me very suicidal and resulted in me going to a psych hospital 3 times in a month. The first time I went to the hospital the Psyciatrist told me Buspar wouldn't even touch my anxiety and discontinued it. I'm on 6mg of Klonopin at bedtime and that works really well.

I haven't taken this one, only a combo of antidepressant/anti-anxiety. The absolute BIGGEST thing that impacted my anxiety? Avoiding caffeine! It really, really makes things bad for me. Now that I am off it entirely, I was even able to quit the meds before getting pregnant.

I cut caffeine out of my diet a long time ago because it makes my heart race.

I'm sorry it made you suicidal. Most antidepressants either make me suicidal or they don't work. After I had my daughter I was put on Zoloft a month and a half later I was suicidal because of it. Before I got pregnant I was Xanax extended release 2mg a day and regular Xanax 1mg as needed. In the past I've tried pretty much every antidepressant for my anxiety, I've also tried other benzos. Since I'm pregnant I can't take most medications. My primary care doctor talked about putting me on a betablocker if BuSpar didn't work.

Ah okay! From the way my doctor talked about I assumed I'd start working in a week.

I completely understand the whole antidepressants making you suicidal, I have tried about 10 different ones (ssri, snri, and tricyclics) after 3 suicide attempts on them they have termed me "allergic" to them. So benzos are the only thing that helps, so far. I just wanted off the Xanax because I hated the foggy/loopy feeling and with the Klonopin I take it at night so I don't have that feeling.

I wish my doctors office would write that I'm allergic to them. When I most people that antidepressants make me suicidal they don't believe me. I've tried exercise and herbs to help with my anxiety; neither help. Before I had social anxiety now I guess it's GAD. I'll get panic attacks out of nowhere, even if I'm doing something fun that shouldn't cause a panic attack I get them every day. My doctor gave me the type of kolonopin that melts on your tongue back in August. It didn't work and made the panic attacks worse because I felt like I was choking from the kolonopin sitting on my tongue. As much as I enjoy being pregnant I hope October comes soon because I can't deal with the anxiety anymore. I'm on progesterone right now and it exacerbates my anxiety. You take all 6mg of kolonopin at night correct? I may ask to try kolonopin again when this baby gets here

The psychiatrist explained how it works.
Also you could try Vistaril or Benadryl for anxiety. You can take it while pregnant. It's a short term medication

I'm pretty sure it won't work for me either with my history of anxiety. For the past two days my heart rate has been between 120-130 for hours at a time. My heart beating like this is very uncomfortable.
I finally get to see my psych doctor on the 25th hopefully he'll be able to help me or put me on a beta blocker.

I don't if it's me or the medicine causing the palpitations.. I requested an appointment with my primary care doctor tomorrow.
