Reasonable weight loss for 5 months

posted 19th Feb
I would like to set a goal for weight loss for July, because I'm going to Myrtle Beach in July.

It will be my first "goal", not my total overall goal.

What would be a good amount of weight to attempt to lose in the next 5 months? Is 20 lbs feasible? 1 lb/week, right? Sounds good, yeah?

TIA.

I think 1-2 pounds a week sounds reasonable. There will probably be weeks you lose more or less, but I think 20 lbs. in 5 months is doable! Good luck!

Thank goodness, I didn't know if that sounded ridiculous. I guess it's totally doable, I just have little to no faith in myself

Good luck with your goal!!!

I lost 20 lbs from feb to June last year. It's definitely doable. But it also depends how much overweight your are.

1-2 pounds a week is definitely realistic, healthy and feasible.

Good luck!

It's doable. However, don't forget you may not lose weight as quickly if you exercise or lift. You'll lose inches since muscle takes up less space than fat. It means you will LOOK much better, even if the scale doesn't move much!

Thank you for reminding me of that. I obviously know but I sometimes forget to like....think about it. Hopefully by July, no matter the loss, I'll be looking hot

It's amazing if you work out how much of a difference it can make without a huge scale loss. I know I lose WAY more inches when I work out and build muscle then when I focus only on trying to get the scale to move.

Yeah that's true! I just figure it's easier to come up with a weight loss goal, kwim?
My goal should just to be less jiggly by July haha

Oh, no, I agree. Goals are good! I'd just suggest you also do measurements and pictures, so if the scale doesn't move as much as you'd like you don't get disappointed, because you'll be able to see progress in other ways. I know sometimes I go "Holly Hell, I've only lost a tiny bit of weight and it's been like 2 years!" But then I see pictures and I go "Oh, yeah, that's right. haha. I've done good!"

I would loooove for that to happen!
