is this exhaustion normal?

posted 19th Feb
I feel like a smurffy person. Everytime I lay down to nurse DS (6 weeks) I start to fall asleep. I have my DS and DD who is 2.5. She wakes up to nurse once at night and he wakes up every few hours normally.

I feel like I don't do smurf and I'm always tired... like exhausted. IDK why. I can't get the energy to do anything. I barely get everyone dressed by 11. ACtually, DD is still not in her shirt because she's in this phase where clothes = demons or something.

I just feel like somethings wrong. I don't work. I'm only in school. I feel like I'm missing some brilliant thing that other moms do so they're not so tired -_-;

The oxytocin release during breastfeeding causes drowsiness and is normal. Mother natures way of making you rest. As long as you don't have depression symptoms it is totally normal

Your not a smurffy person. It's normal to be tired when you have a newborn..

Nursing is exhausting because it releases "relaxing " hormones. Plus you're still recovering from birth and getting used to interrupted sleep. It sucks but it gets better. You're not a bad mom, just a tired one. Focus on important things and let the not so important things go (like cleaning or fighting kids about clothes. My daughter is naked right now... I get her dressed and she strips soon after Lol)

I don't think so... The idea of PPD terrifies me and I don't *think* I have any symptoms. I guess I'm just tired...

Yeah, I do need to let it go... I just wanted to go get groceries - we ran out of fresh fruit today and low on veggies, milk, and bread. I try to stock up. It's just so tough getting them both ready, in the car, into the store, shop, to the car, into the apartment, groceries inside, groceries away... It's like a freakin' fiasco. I feel like if we get ONE thing done a day it's a win. I have class in an hour and a half so I'm just like... bleh.
