due date

posted 19th Feb
Has anyone had an ultrasound done and their due-date was pushed a little over a week back but it was wrong? I went to my first appointment a few days ago and on the u/s screen, the baby looked pretty big.. decent sized head, could see him/her waving at us, I could even count toes! But when the doctor went to measure, I was measuring behind my LMP and the baby looked really tiny when the doc went to "capture the picture" because he/she wouldn't stop moving so I feel like it wasn't properly measured. The one picture I managed to get, looks very blurry and doesn't even look like anything but a blob. Definitely NOT what it looked like when the baby was moving and not comparable to my daughter's u/s picture at 9 weeks. Just really want some intake on this.... I'm having a first trimester screening done on the 28th to make sure baby is healthy and assuming they will measure and make sure I am really a week behind, or my first due date that was given is correct but it's driving me insane thinking about it!

Well early on, it can be kind of off, if I remember correctly.
I remember them giving me an estimated due date of August 1, 2012 but it was switched to August 6.
When I went for my first u/s and thought I was about 14-15 weeks and I was told I was about 12-13 weeks yet they were able to tell me I was having a girl?
I didn't feel that was right at all but if it's within a week, it's just a relative estimate.
I would go with the one they give you, though.
My daughter was born right in the middle of the 6th and 1st on the 3rd lol.
I think the only time a due date change is really significant is when it's 2 or more weeks from the initial date given.

At your anatomy scan they'll be able to give you a more accurate date I'm sure.

Regardless, due dates are an estimate anyway.

I know alot of drs wont push you back if youre a week past your LMP. I know for a FACT i ovulated late and Im not due til the 22nd (positive OPKs and Im measuring a week behind) but my dr refuses to push me backward. Its rare to have a baby that small be miss calculated BUT anything could be possible. he/she could catch up by your next sono or baby could just work better for the tech. either way, congrats!

Thanks for the info ladies. I know that the due date is just an estimate, not a guaranteed thing so I am not expecting to have the baby exactly on the due date, even though my daughter was born exactly on hers lol what is the chance of that happening twice! My thing is making an appointment for gender revel and I have to be at least 14 weeks. We're going home to California for a visit and was hoping that I could have my family there and involved in it if it was at the right time.. and for sure I would be if my due date wasn't pushed further ahead and now we're literally going to be exactly at 14 weeks if this is my due date baby is measuring to and that's if they even have an appointment for that day. Hoping they do, but I don't want to schedule it until after my first trimester scan so I know for sure that I'm just a week behind. My period was really iffy in December... I was a week late, really thought I was pregnant.. but then I had my "period" but I was just lightly spotting for 3 days and then I was done. My next period in Jan was MIA, or so I had thought anyway... took a test mid-day and it popped up positive right away. Took two more tests, positive. Got blood work done at the hospital, came back positive and that's why I thought for sure that I was 10 weeks at my appointment but that means I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks and that late period messed up my ovulation. This pregnancy is very different this time around lol

I went in for a ultrasound and i was supposed to be 8 weeks & they bumped me back to 6 weeks stating that i ovulated later (((when i know exactly when i O'd & when we DTD because hubby trained a lot, so i wrote down every day he was home))) but then his growth took off & he was 2-3 wks ahead of the due date they gave.. so they bumped me back to my original due date...
