Ok my issue is my bf n i plain on gettin married but when Anthony our son can walk but on his birth certificate should i do his or mine? I know its proly stupid to ask being we r gunna get married but u can change the last name on the birth certificate right?

I'd do his last name.

if you are together and he is going to be a good dad and helps support you give his name. dd has so's name and i know if we ever broke up he would be there for her.

Both of my children have SOs last name. We've always known we'd stay together and even if we didn't he's still a good dad. If it was an iffy guy I'd say no. But If he's a good dad and you plan to marry then why go trough the whole name hangs process in a couple years?

If he is a good dad/man and you know he's going to be there, whether you get married or not, I'd give LO his last name.

I gave my son my last name and told my boyfriend that when we got married we would all be a family and take his last name.

Well, that never happened. He hasn't seen his son since he was two months old. He's almost two.

And we were together for two years and had a great relationship. He just couldn't take the responsibility of being a father.

Now my son and I live with my family and in so glad he has our last name.

I'm not saying your SO will bail on y'all, but you never know what will happen. I always tell unmarried moms to give their child their name. You can easily change it when you get married

Having a baby can really change a relationship.

I guess just follow your own instincts. Either situation I guess you may or may not have to change his name. So take yor chances and do what feel right for you.

Sometimes it is easier if the baby has your last name until you get married. It makes paperwork and stuff easier. My kids from my fist marriage have a different last name then the one I have now and it sometimes makes things more difficult. It's your baby so what you want but you could always change his name later.You could get married by the justices of the peace before the baby comes and have a big wedding later on. That way you can save and have the wedding of your dreams but still not worry about the name thing.

If you plan on getting married and hes a good dad and their for the baby go ahead and get a headstart on things and give LO his daddy's last name.Both my sons have their daddy's last name and my mom begged me to give them my last name(I have my moms last name)Me and my gets dad ended up getting divorced. My last name will be changed back to my maiden here soon and I kind of regret it bc of all the custody issues and smurf. But anyways my daughter will have my last name,I'm not with her father and he more then likely probably wont have anything to do with her.
