I got her a shirt at Carter's that says World's Best Sister.

Technically baby food isn't recommended until 6 months. I mean you can it's your child, but the AAP states it's best to wait till 6 months.

My LO was ready at 4 months. I started really slowly. Hes 5 1/2 months now and just has baby porridge and pureed vegetables. He was taking 8 bottles 7 oz formula and has only dropped 1 feed so far. At 6 months I will increase his solids a little. This was the right thing for my baby and he is a much happier chappy for it. Not all babies are the same tho. If baby is satisfied with just milk Id carry on like that until he shows more signs.

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to hold off on it for now.

Don't know how that's gonna go with his grandparents wanting to give him a taste of all their food. He doesn't exactly look 4 months old so people dont realize he is too young for regular food...

Just another quick question, do you think a breastfed baby van be too fat?

No. I think neither formula or breastfeed babies can be fat. Most do get chubby because they don't move around much. Once they start walking and crawling they usually slim down.

Just curious what are the signs of readiness? My son is 4 months and I definitely want to hold off on solids as long as possible (I feel bad sometimes now though because once in a while I'll let him lick something I'm eating like an apple or strawberry, etc, and now when I eat he watches me and opens his mouth when I bring the fork to my mouth sometimes) so I hope I'm not making him too curious too early, you know?

My son is 4 months and I started him on baby food yesterday. I really planned on waiting until after six months but his formula alone wasn't satisfying him anymore and he showed all the "signs" of being ready. He weighs 15lbs  Oh and he LOVED it! Green beans.

Yes squishy babies are cute but from what op is saying her baby isn't ready also it sound like he's already putting good amount of weight on just on mommy juice   I think u are making the right choice by holding off I think delaying solids is a great thing! I believe in keeping babies on boobies until they stop gaining weight. Then introduce rice cereal or baby oatmeal.

I was replying to the second question she posed further along in the thread asking if anyone thought breastfed babies could be too fat. That was not a reply to the original post.
