I reeeeaaally want to stay away from fitteds if possible though. I have like 3 in different brands to try just to give it a fair shot, but....they seen like such a PITA. most of my stash is pockets and AIO.

Yeah damn that sounds gross   I wouldn't have guessed wool was very breathable!

in order to deal with my obsession and the fact that we're poor, I make my own, it's so much fun. And I can make them so cute and in whatever fabric I want.   I recently learned how to knit skirty soakers and now I hope I have reason to use them.   here's my first one

wool is awesome, it breathes and self cleans up to a certain point. it does require lanolyzing though, otherwise it's not as effective and it won't self clean.

You dont have to use fitteds  .. just sayin' they're more breathable (if you watch the vid you'll see PUL is highly breathable as well anyway)

I was the same when i started out.. pockets, a12 only, now i've ordered a ton of fitted hybrids to try

They basically have a built in fleece cover, you dont need to wear a cover on them around home etc because they hold the moisture in better then regular fitteds that need a cover on top.

What brand(s) do you have? I might be more open to them for around the house because I can stay on top of changing and even if they leak..eh, we have wood laminate

I'm assuming your asking about the lanolin. It's a substance naturally found in wool, you can buy it to use on your skin, often used for cracked nipples when nursing, I buy it to add back to my wool. This is lanolyzing. Lanolin reacts with urine and essentially cleans it away like soap, but it wears off over time and exposure and has to be periodically refreshed with new lanolin. Won't do a darn thing with poop though, lol, wool isn't that selfcleaning.

there are so many ways, lol. essentially you wash your wool with some wool wash , (baby shampoo works really well), then you press out the excess water and submerge your wool in warm water that has some lanolin melted into it(how much wool your doing will determine how much lanolin, I usually used about 1/4 of a tsp per soaker) and allow it to soak, I would usually squish it around for a little bit and then leave it for 15 minutes. Then I would press out the excess water and let it air dry. There are other more involved methods that can better prevent lanolin spots from forming (annoying but doesn't affect functionality) but I just go for the quickest method I can find. I don't like adding too much work to my day.   An alternative method with pics can be seen at this web address:
