Overwhelmed!!

posted 19th Feb
So overwhelmed lately! I'm not huge yet but definitely showing. I am almost 18w and finally have no more morning sickness thank The Lord! I have a 10 1/2 month old daughter. She is practically walking and a very fast crawler. I know it's apart of having a baby/toddler but Jesus Christ I am up and down every two damn minutes. No Sophia this no Sophia that. She constantly needs a smack to the hand. Going into the drawers and pulling everything out. Trying to get into the dishwasher while loading it or pulling the dishes out after I put them in. She is into everything and ok like smurf up and down I feel like I'm 30 weeks already with my baby bulge and having pains and aches and running after my little one. It's one of those nights where you feel you just can't do it anymore and you just give up!

She's 10 1/2 months old and you're smacking her hand for exploring her surroundings? Wow.

1. She doesn't need a smack on the hand, that is how you are choosing to punish her for doing what she should be doing....being curious and learning.

2. Create a safe, but limited space, where she can explore, play and not get into things. Consider purchasing a play yard for her.

You are smacking your 10 month olds hand? You should try redirecting her.. not punishi g her for being a curious baby.

try redirecting her instead of hitting her hand, or use a stern no.

what I always tell my friends when they don't want their kids to do something, let tem know what they can do instead of always telling them what they cant do. then they know where they stand...even though she is 10 months old, its great to start now.

yeahhh.... you shouldn't be smacking her on the hand at 10 months old! she isn't even a year old yet. she doesn't know any better, she's just exploring..

"No"is not the best way to get your point across. And she isn't even a year old. Redirecting her at this age will be most affective.

I'm gonna stick to my own parenting but thank you for the tips! Maybe I'll give it a try!

You may want to research child development....

Hitting your child for trying to meet their developmental milestones is counter-productive and potentially very harmful.

Well you're not going to get very far with that attitude. Regardless of your "parenting style" she is still to young to be smacked as a punishment. She doesn't have the attention span and will not learn anything from a smack.

I don't even think a baby that young can incorporate that the hand smack is for something she did... and it could make teaching her not to hit a whole lot worse.
