wedding guest list-family drama

so...

two of my brothers (tom and justin) got drunk at justins wedding and almost got in a fist fight, lost his ring...my other brother (justins twin joe) was visiting from the air force just for this-he was utterly embarrassed and ashamed. does not want contact with either of them anymore.

justin has also since stopped talking to my dad, probably for the better. justin is an alcoholic and cannot control his anger especially concerning my father.

also, i have not seen my mom in 4 years, that was just a visit-16 years before then. during the visit she was very overwhelming...i dont really want to get into it too much but i could not keep contacting her. it was too stressful.
i also dont think she would do well with my dad being there. or my brothers who dont see her either. or my dads gf. not to mention i just dont want to have all that to worry and anticipate about when its just a wedding, i want to relax, enjoy myself...you know.
well my mom is supposedly dying too...should probably throw that in there.


so who do i invite and how do i keep the peace? my gramma says i should invite my mom because im her baby. (   ) i basically have lived the past 5 years saying i dont have a mom. even before then she was NEVER in my life. i do not look to her as a mother, but do i owe her this? (before 5 years ago i had a step mom...she was a bitch who doesnt matter here)


just a few other woes-my family is super trashy lol. i was just visiting my dad and we were talking about who i should invite and he was talking about my uncle and his whores (quite literally) and i dont want to invite them lol. i mean my uncle sure, i just hope he can control himself. and not bring some tramp.

You invite who you want there and don't worry about anyone else. It is your day!!

invite people that will complement the wedding not take from it. Its your day a day that for most people only comes once.

Ehh.. with all that mess, I wouldn't even have a wedding. Take a couple friends or family members and get married on a beach, or a cruise... or even Vegas!

idk though i know ricks family is cool and they shouldnt have to suffer. his mom is super excited about helping with plans and stuff. i guess im kinda into the traditional setting too.

well i just brought up cost with rick today and he was a bit...unpleasantly suprised lol. maybe i can just cut the guest list and save some bucks and some drama lol.
but idk... i do want the family there, and i cant pick and choose i would feel horrible lol.
even worse if we have all ricks aunts and uncles and only a couple of mine. gah. ill figure it out lol

Can you do a destination wedding? Often if relatives have to travel they won't go. Especially if it is around a holiday where $$$ is right. Just a thought. It might discourage some of the crazies. Lol

the biggest problem i think is my mom. i reallllllly dont want to invite her. i dont think i will. but i feel badly about it...


as for the rest of my family....maybe i should hire a bouncer lol

This! People may initially be hurt over not being invited but they get over it.
