C-section pain normal?

posted 18th Feb
Friend had an emergency C-section last night. Tonight her pain was so bad they put her on a morphine drip and still her pain is at a 7 or an 8. Is this normal? it has been over 24 hours since the surgery.

For some yes. Mine was so bad. Wasn't able to get up by myself for 2 weeks. Didn't heal until 5 months.

Mine was like that with my first c-section and they found i had an infection at the site of the incision from the surgery. (along with many other complications from it)
I ended up in the hospital for longer, with a longer recovery time.

I mean, she just had the c section so its very normal. I took longer to heal because of an infection.

I've heard it's very normal. I guess I got lucky because I was up walking the very next morning. Pain was around a 3 or 4 for me. I actually tore a muscle in my arm & that hurt WORSE.
Hopefully she starts to heal soon. Have her have the doctors check for any infection. Or maybe the pain meds aren't taking to her body..?

I think it can just depend. My first was hell with every complication. My second c-sec i was walking later that day, and back to 'normal-feeling' within a week of getting home.

for me morphine didn't even work...turns out i was allergic to it. Tylenol 3's helped a lot more

everyones pain tolerance and medication tolerance is different.

I have a very low tolerance to pain and very high tolerance to medication. Morphine does nothing for me

omg! yes its normal. they cut through your muscles and uterus to get to thebaby... and the staples dont help they poke and itch and if one comes loose it stabs every time you move (one of mine were like that)... After my c section I was in sooo much pain... I was lucky to have such a high threshold... And, had things gone differently for me, I'm sure I would have paid more attention to the pain in my stomache but the pain in my heart took care of that. ha. But... yes, they hurt so so so bad.. especially if youve never had a surgery before that... she just needs to take it easy for a while and let it heal up correctly   the pain turns into a super numb feeling after a while until you start to get feeling back, then its super sensitive to pants and stuff (esp if youre a big girl like me)..

she also needs to keep it nice and dry... i kept a pad there held by undies just to draw the moisture out and it was healing to a scar before they took my stitches out.
