Who's the douche?

Okay so my ex's Dad comes to pick Ainsley up in the mornings before I go to work, and then I pick her up when I get out.
I typically end up leaving him in the house, and I don't see any issue with that.
He helped Ainsley pick up the living room for me for valentines day. It was very nice of him to do so.
I keep my checkbook out on the kitchen table so I make sure I actually write stuff down in it.
Apparently he looked at my bank balance.

I'm smurfing pissed. It's none of his business.

Is it my fault for leaving it out IN MY OWN HOME, or is he just a douche for looking at it?

You can leave what you want in your home. He was just nosey and looked at it.

He had no business looking at it, however, you are also at fault - if you're going to leave someone unattended in your home, you just don't leave sensitive information on the table.

I wouldn't say either of you is the douche, but I say you are more at fault. Even tho it is your home if you know someone is going to be in your house why even tempt them to look at it by leaving it out for them to get their hands on it.

Douche isn't the word I'd use, but I see faults on both sides.

He's nosy and you left someone unattended in your home with your personal information out.

An invitation into your home is not an invitation to snoop.

Huh? No. This is (very small scale) victim blaming. Her house, her stuff. Not his.

I don't see you being at fault. You're right it's YOUR house. HE had NO business even touching your things much less snooping through your check book. I wouldn't say he was a douche but he wouldn't be in my home again and I'd take it as a lesson learned to start picking up my things cause although it's your home and you SHOULD be able to leave your things out however you please some people don't respect that and fail to understand their boundaries in someone elses home.
