Preventing stretch marks?
posted 18th Feb
I'm not even showing yet but I want to get something that will help me to prevent stretch marks.
What should I use?

You cant prevent them. They are going to happen if they are going to happen.

Stretch marks are genetic.
If your mother or grandmother had them, you'll get them.
Stay hydrated, moisturize and that may help reduce the look of them....but it won't prevent them entirely.

If they're gonna happen, they're gonna happen no matter what lotions, potions, creams, gels, rubs, etc you use.
That said, as skin grows, it gets itchy - I found cocoa butter/belly butter greatly helped with the severity of the itching, although my stomach still looked like a road map despite me using it religiously.

lots and lots of lotion will help, but it's mostly genetics... You can't really prevent them.

Not a damn thing.
Lotion will help to keep skin moisturized so it doesn't get itchy, though.

i read drinking lots of water to help your skin stay moisturized and dont scratch them when they itch and use lots of creams but like everyone said if its gonna happen its gonna happen!

Nothing, its genetic.

I have been useing Bio oil and I have noticed a big difference in my old stretch marks that I got from my daugter and I am hopeing that it will HELP so I don't get really bad ones. But honestly they aren't really preventable. If you are going to get them, nothing is going to stop them And I don't really believe the genetic thing. My mom had 3 kids and didn't get a single stretch mark... I wasn't so lucky, even tho I didn't get them too horrible. They could have been worse.

My mom has them.
I have a couple, but thier hardly noticible unless i point them out, but i had the before my pregnancy, I haven't gotten any from this pregnancy yet.(29 weeks(

Nothing you do will prevent stretch marks... It's based on genetics. All you can do is keep your skin moisturized, to avoid scratching at them. Vitamin e oil is great for moisturizing your skin. I use it to oil my ears (they are stretches at an inch) to keep them from drying out. I personally use cocoa butter and shea butter for my belly, and it has lightened up the few stretch marks I have gotten so far, a lot.
