How soon ahead do you plan birthdays??

How far in advance do you PLAN your childs birthday, as in- when do you start thinking/ planning it then buying things, ect ??


I typically start my planning about 3-6ms before the birthday party date- whether its just picking a theme/ gathering ideas, 2-3ms before i start buying things... favors, dinnerwear, ect and send out invites about 4wks before.

DS birthday is in April and I havent officially planned anything  

Like 3 weeks lol. I'm so unorganised.
I know my DD2 will have a Minnie Mouse
Birthday but I won't actually do anything at all until mid-late July. Her birthday is August.

LO's 2nd birthday is in April... I have nothing. We are doing the party at the end of March

Any time I plan ANYTHING smurf goes down hill so I stopped planning birthdays lol.. About a month before the birthday I start asking what they want and what kind of cake they want and then a few days before the birthday if anyone wants to celebrate with him they are welcome to and we just go to the park or somewhere fun, come home, open presents and eat cake..Almost everyone I know with kids lives 100 miles away so there's no big party or anything, but I make sure they have fun and they haven't complained yet

Last year, I totally failed when it came to DS2's 2nd birthday (and i feel awful about it) I didnt get my smurf together until about 3wks before his bday- sent out invites about 10 days before :-/ it was a mess. The day of, I was so unorganized... I felt rushed & overwhelmed. ugh!

I have an August b-day and a November b-day, I already started planning, looking, thinking of ideas for DS2's 3rd bday in Aug (spongebob) and by the time its all planned... ill be 1/2 way done with DS1's 5th bday, whcih ive already started looking for things (TMNT)

Theres one in Cranberry twp, also- I usually look alot online pick what I think I want then find it either in stores (party city, target, walmart) or Online or Make it myself. Thanks to PINTEREST, I found almost all my ideas there for decorations... invitations... cakes... food, ect. Im so excited! lol
