Hives from certain dogs?

posted 18th Feb
My son has broken out in hives ever since we got these two dogs from a friend. It started almost right away, at first he was just itching his eyes and they became just a bit swollen and they were red and watering--that started about 20 minutes after they came into our house. Then he broke out in hives, he's had them ever since which has been about a week and a half since we've had the dogs. We have bathed them thinking it was something that was on them but nothing has seemed to help. These dogs are Chuahauah's (spelled right? IDK) but I am not sure how it could be the dogs because our daycare has two Pug nose dogs. I don't know what to do, his pediatrician says he believes it is the dogs because of their urine, saliva and dander. Any thoughts?

I'm seriously thinking that is the best thing to do also. I have tried contacting their previous owner to see if they would like them back before I find a new home for them. Everyone is attached to them already, but nothing is more important than my own Kiddos!

He can be allergic to them. My DD is allergic to some kinds of dogs. We had a lab she was fine, we brought a beagle home and had the same reaction as you are describing. I would say regime them or get him allergy tested.

It is so odd, he is fine with the daycare's pug nose dogs but he has a slight reaction to my BIL's cats also, not hives but his eyes get itchy and watery and red, like he is with these chuahaha's (again spell???) this time though the hives look so bad but they don't seem to bother him like his eyes do. I don't want to make him suffer in any way so I am still trying to get a hold of the previous owner.
