Confused about my 14 week gender u/s

posted 18th Feb
So I have been extremely anxious to find our if we are having a boy or girl, I know 14 weeks is early but I scheduled an elective u/s anyways and we went yesterday. I was 14w 1d. The place that we went to was SUPER sketchy, the website was incredibly misleading!! So anyways, I was told at my NT scan 95% girl by what I consider to be a much more educated tech when she explained the "nub" was parallel to the spine, so we go yesterday, and this technician starts doing the ultrasound, NOT EXPLAINING ANYTHING. She keeps saying the baby is stubborn and won't open it's legs, the damn thing was such crappy quality I don't even know what she was looking at. Finally, she says "it's a boy, because there are three dots in a triangle shape" that was it. I left with a few crappy pictures, and I still don't see anything pointing to boy. I'm fine with boy or girl, but just want to know!
Here's a few pictures, what does everybody think??

Well 14 weeks isn't accurate. I don't know why they even tried.

I know it's frustrating.... but I'd suggest waiting until you're 20 week scan so you can be sure. 14 weeks is WAY early.

I was high risk..and i had a 14 week ultrasound to check my cervix and the tech said boy..well..i had a girl. I knew by looking at the ultrasound pic that it was not a boy..lol. 14 weeks is a bad time to do an elective ultrasound.

You do realize that most of these elective, pay out of pocket ultrasound places, the "techs" aren't even real techs? You don't have to go through any schooling or anything. All these "techs" have for any type of training is how to work the machine.
I make sure the places (well place) I go to has actual real ultrasound techs and are 100% certified and know what they're talking about.

14 weeks is early, though. I did happen to find out at 13 weeks I was having a boy. He's still a boy and I'm having him in 2 weeks. But that was a high tech ultrasound that clearly showed baby balls (the start of his baby balls).

Maybe wait until your anatomy scan around 20 weeks and ask about gender.

It's not to early for the "nub theory". But I've never heard of that meaning it's a boy? I have two boys and we have never looked for 3 dots and a triangle. I found out early with both of them at ab 16 weeks,of course the tech said 80% sure bc they can't tell you 100% till closer to 20 weeks.

Both boys and girls have an indifferent penis until about 15 weeks. However what she said about the pyramid formation of dots is accurate fpr determining boys aat these early gestations. As hard as it is, it's better just to wait until you're closer to 20 weeks. I found out at 16 weeks and I questioned it until I had a growth scan at 32 weeks and had it confirmed.

I had an elective at 17 weeks when the genitalia is fully formed. I had the same answer of 3 dots. The tech said I was carrying a girl.
I had the 20 week ultrasound and got the same answer; a girl.

I'd say 14 is much too early to have a really good poke around.

I think I got screwed over too! I figured it was too early to tell, but the website was so convincing saying they could determine gender as early as 14 weeks, I figured I'd give it a shot. When we got there, the furniture had tears in it, the receptionist was on the phone with her boyfriend in the parking lot ato the whole place just felt like a complete joke. I'm very disappointed because I actually felt that the technicians were "real" technicians, so to speak. I read that the triangle can mean both boy and girl, and I've had a gut feeling that it's a girl my entire pregnancy. So now im really confused! Ugh! Guess I'll have to wait my anatomy scan
