baby shower?

posted 18th Feb
Okay so I know its a little early to be thinking about this, because I'm only 13wks. But I can't decide if I'm going to have a babyshower this time around. I'll be 21 when this baby comes but it'll also be me and my husbands 3rd baby. Is having a baby shower for a 3rd child too much? I mean I know we could afford getting all the big things and clothes on our own but I think my family would have fun with another baby shower. I was thinking maybe since we have 2 boys if we have another boy this time we won't do a babyshower but if we're having a girl we will. Does that sound okay? I don't wanna push a babyshower on people cause I know a lot of other people having babies either a little before or around the same time as me. One of my bestfriends is due 5 days before I am.

If your family wants to have one, they can throw you one. If this is your third baby, you probably have a lot of baby stuff left, right? Plus, since you're only 20, I'm assuming your kids can't be that far apart. I wouldn't throw my own shower, especially for a 3rd baby, but that's just me.

Throwing a party for yourself looks pretty tacky to most people.

If someone does it for you, then cool. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it.

My oldest will be almost 4 when this baby is born and our youngest will have just turned 2 a few weeks before the baby is born. But no I have no baby things left over at this point, besides a crib mattress because our youngest is still in a crib right now, however the crib will not be usable after he's done with it in a few more months so we'll have to get a new one but will be keeping the mattress. Other then that I only have a few boy newborn clothes left because originally after we had our last LO we weren't planning on having another right off. My Mother and MIL have already asked me if I was going to do one (I've thrown my own babyshowers in the past, as far as planning, who does what for food, what games were played, I provided the prizes and the decorations only thing I didn't do was provide a place for it besides 1 of the showers for my youngest) I replied with an I'm not sure yet. I believe my mother had a babyshower for her 3rd (which was also her last kid).

I'm having another baby shower but we're having a boy this time. If we had another girl we'd probably jusy have a diaper party since I saved EVERYTHING from my daughter. lol

I wish I did. The carseat expired, the stroller is old and dirty, the crib fell apart, and we gave away all of the baby clothes. We have to start fresh, especially if this one is a boy. Oh well. I'm saving back plenty of money!

In a way I wish I had saved things instead of either selling them or re-gifting to friends who had babies. But in another way I'm glad I got rid of it because we're kinda leaning more towards wanting a girl this time around. Keeping boy things around would have jinxed me :p

Basiclly the only things we need are clothes & a car seat. Luckily the I got my stroller from does upgrades & we only have to pay the price difference for a double stroller.

I already have a double stroller, found it on craigslist for $100 (: Super nice jeep one with the little toy steering wheel in the front, its awesome. I'm not sure if we're going to go with a triple stroller or not yet just cause our oldest will be almost 4 at the time the baby is born and I'm not sure if he'll be in the stroller still or not. Its a wait and see game for how the summer goes.

I'm having a sprinkle instead of a shower for my second.   With my first child he was a preemie and we had his baby shower after he was born. It wasn't like the real thing. This time around, I'm getting a different gender, It's been 3 years, and I'm having a healthy pregnancy. I wanted to party! Sprinkles are awesome because they are toned down showers. No big gifts or outrageous games. I'm asking for things that I don't have and will need for a newborn. Girls clothes, bottles or just nipples for bottles, DIAPERS and wipes, and receiving blankets. My son's blankets are nasty at this point! Lol. Gifts aren't even required for a sprinkle. And, I welcome gently used clothes instead of designer stuff too! Less pressure and awkwardness for guests, and I still get to throw baby girl a shower.   Although I did have to explain what the sprinkle concept was to a few people....it is a really new trend. Almost like a gender reveal....
Good Luck!! And have fun!! Babies are MEANT to be celebrated!!

That sounds like a good compromise for if I am having a girl this time around, cause it'll be a new gender and I know my family is going to want to do something and SO and I already planned on buying all the big things so maybe I'll do this with just clothes and diapers for if its a girl and if its another boy we're not going to do anything.

That's exactly how I figured it. My son's entire theme was yellow Pooh stuff so I didn't need ANY big items. Little sis can use all of that. Lol. My thinking was if I have a girl, we'll do a super girly sprinkle party...and if it was another boy I'd have a sip n' see. Which is a homecoming party for baby where guests come to see the baby and you just put out little finger foods and drinks. Gifts optional. I love parties and so does my family and friends, so this comes natural. We celebrate everything! Lol. I'm sure that if your close friends and family understood your thinking on wanting to do a shower/sprinkle and needing just the odds and ends, they would totally be in line for that! I've never had anyone tell me that it's ridiculous, and all my guests have already RSVPed that they are coming and super excited about it all! Besides, it's your kids and your family and I wouldn't care what people thought about me! ;)
