What a disappointment

posted 18th Feb
So today I had an appointment and I was so excited thinking I would hear the baby's heartbeat. Well that didn't happen, the Ob said because I wasn't 12 weeks yet she wouldn't even try to save all of us the frustration. In hindsight I think she was being lazy. I took my son only because I wanted him to hear the heartbeat too. On top of that I am pretty anemic according to my blood work. so I had to get more blood work done to make sure it's only because of an iron deficiency. Oh I apparently gained 6 freaking lbs since my last appointment smh. I have trouble eating I'm practically on my feet 8 hrs a day teaching 1st graders which is apparently not enough. I am certain it's because on some nights I eat extremely late and fall right asleep because I have to wait until my husband gets home from work to bring me something to eat which is normally unhealthy. Anyway I am feeling pretty sad and defeated. I am so it's just my hormones and getting my hopes up for no reason but regardless that's how I feel. Oh last thing this stupid Ob who never examined me in my last pregnancy had the nerve to put her finger in my anus. I have never had anything up there so I felt pretty violated. I have decided that I do not like her for that reason lol. I hope I never have to deal with her again. Okay I think I'm done complaining.

I don't blame her for not checking. She was just trying to save you the worry of potentially not hearing it. A lot of OBs wait until after 12 weeks.

Yeah my OB tried finding the heartbeat at 11.5 weeks and couldn't find it. I ended up finding it at home on my own later but that stressed me out so badly.

A lot of OB's wont look for a heartbeat on the doppler before 12 weeks its not because they are lazy it because the chances are slim you will hear it and they dont want freaked out parents. Im sorry you were disappointed but I dont really see anything wrong with what happened sounds like a normal doctors appointment to me.

I have no clue, she just did it. It was weird to me because with my last pregnancy that didn't happen.

Better she didn't check than if she had and couldn't find the heartbeat..
We couldn't get this baby's heartbeat on the Doppler until nearly sixteen weeks.. Now talk about disappointment

I guess....wish I could have heard the heartbeat it would have made my day. I have my first trimester screening on the 28th so at least I'll get to see the baby and hopefully hear the heartbeat too.

At 9 weeks I had a ultrasound and at 13 weeks when the doc went to find the hearbeat she couldn't find it so she did a ultrasound. She could have done that to save you from worrying.
