Is it bad?

posted 18th Feb
Is it bad that I don't have my 2.4 month old on his stomach/back much. You hear so much about "tummy time" and I know it's important to have they laying flat so they can learn to roll over. But, if I don't, what will really happen?

DS has severe reflux. Laying him flat on his back almost instantly puts him into pain and I can hear him swallowing the milk/stomach acids that are making their way up. Laying him on his stomach makes him almost instantly throw up from the pressure on his stomach. It's a lose lose situation, really.

I just worry that he'll be developmentally behind if he doesn't get much floor time to learn how to roll over/crawl.

Prop his upper half up on a pillow to take the pressure off the stomach.

Tummy is important because it helps them build their muscles and strength. Like the previous posted try using a pillow so the pressure if off the tummy. Just do little bits at a time.

Dom didn't like being layed flat on his stomach because of his reflux either, but this has helped.

dd hated tummy time. we had lots of play time on her back but she would GEEK on her tummy, as if we were stabbing her until she learned how to roll back to front and front to back. now she goes on her tummy on her own and loves it. i wouldnt wait with it tho, i wish i started dd early, maybe she would have liked it sooner. shes almost 7 months and doesnt army crawl yet. i wonder if she would be if i did more tummy time.

We started trying tummy time at like 3 weeks. I don't think he minds being on his stomach much, minus the fact that he projectile vomits everything in his stomach, and that's no fun at all.

My DD's pedi told me that didn't count as tummy time when I asked her about putting her on the boppy like that...idk though lol.

My son hates tummy time as well. He loves to be on his back even though he spit ups a lot. He also has bad acid reflux. I told the pedi about him not liking tummy time and she said as long as I give him chances to hold his head up. Like holding him with his face away from me leaning forward. I still try and do some but it usually last 2min before he is blood curdling screaming. I've tried propping him up on a boppy like in the picture and its the same thing.

My boy was exactly the same so was a bit slow at the rolling over thing
Infant Gaviscon has transformed him and now he's trying to crawl a month after being diagnosed and getting his prescription!
