Went to L&D last night....and help with labor please!

posted 18th Feb
I was 1 cm dilated (yes I know I could be dilated to 1 cm for weeks, but I am just excited that I am dilated at all!). My contractions were down to 4 minutes apart when I was laying down, but when they got me to get up walking they progressed to about 2 every time we went around the hall which felt like 100. So I was getting them less then 3 minutes apart. They rechecked and NO progresseion  . My ob had them give me ambien so I would sleep, and a percocet for the pain since it was horrible. I am still having some contractions not many, but I am hoping it happens soon. Please don't bash me when I say this but what can I do to get things started soon. If you have anything smart to say please keep it to yourself because I need help. I am not only uncomfortable but I am having back labor, and I would rather my body be in active labor then to continue having false labor for several weeks. I just want to help things along, I won't get an induction or anything like that I just would like to progress a little faster.

Keep walking, squats, sex, bounce on a ball, get down on your hands and knees and rock. Just keep working with your body.

Just keep walking doing exercises to make the baby move farther down...but sadly your body will continue the practice labor until it is ready for real labor   just remember practice labor is good for getting those muscles ready for real labor!!

Hot bath next time you have contractions.
My Mw had me in the bath do one contraction laying on my back then one on my hands and knees, then one on my back etc. but that might've been because y baby was posteria?
It bloody worked though lol

nothing is really going to help. Either you're in labor or your not. If walking isn't doing it, then I'm sorry to say, you're stuck. Suck it up and know that this is what you signed up for.

The same exact thing happened to me Friday at like 1 am. I had contractions 3 minutes apart for 6 hours and I didn't progress at all either. I'm 1 cm and 70% effaced. I have had contractions ever since, but nothing consistent and nothing as painful as on Friday! I hope that means something will happen for me soon, but I'm not getting my hopes up. They didn't give me anything for the pain though lol they just sent me home!

When you get a little closer to your due date (I'd say @ 39 weeks) schedule a massage and tell them it is to jump start labor.

Thanks for the helpful answers ladies! I know he won't come until he is ready, I just want to help my body progress without an induction or something like that. I am hoping it comes soon, I am going to try the hot baths, and do some more walking, and maybe eat spicy food too lol. So we shall see how fast I do progress I go back on Wednesday for my 38 week apt so I am hoping to hear I did progress more...maybe enough to where I will be in active labor lol!

I'd recommend nipple stimulation.
If you have a breast pump, that would be best.
but if not you can still do it by either having your SO suckle each nipple, or by rolling around the erect nipple between your thumb and four finger.
10 - 15 minutes on each side.
Combine this with another momma's recommendation of bouncing on a birthing ball/squats and that should help a lot.

I will try this too! I am hoping it's soon. I want him to come when he is ready but I want to help myself out a little to

I want to be in active labor instead of this fake false labor lol. It would be better for me if I went into acitve labor and then that wouldn't mean it is weeks away it would be shortly away

And see that is the thing about my due date, when I tested the day after my missed period it was as dark as the lines would go. So then going by my lmp they said I was due March 15th early u/s said March 8th. So if I would have gotten pregnant with this due date it would have been when I was on my last period and I don't have sex on my periods...so I still feel like he is a week farther then he actually is. But they won't change my due date, oh and my uterus kept measuring 3 weeks ahead, and at 25 weeks he was a little farther ahead then what my due date states. I just hope active labor hits, and that it zooms by!! And I hope your labor stops!!

Other than nipple stimulation which produces a hormone called oxytocin that can cause contractions, intercourse is probably ur best natural option for kickstarting labor. The semen has a hormone called prostaglandins that works wonderfully to help ur uterus contract. With my first baby we had intercourse & the contractions just kept coming afterwards. No matter what u do this will only work if ur body is prepared for labor, if ur cervix isn't ripened & softened it will only prolong false labor pains. U said u were 70% effaced though so I would give it a shot. Whatever u do stay away from castor oil! I tried that with each of my last two pregnancy's & all it did was give me horrible diarrhea & stomach cramps & ultimately both times my water broke without labor starting naturally so I had to be induced. Just try to relax, enjoy & embrace ur last few days or week of being pregnant. Ur gonna miss feeling ur baby move inside u & rubbing on ur big pregnant belly once ur baby is born. Use this time to rest as much as possible cuz ur gonna be deprived of sleep for a while soon. I know it can be hard to relax when ur so excited to meet ur lil one but believe me if u can u'll be glad u did later.
