And you're an expert

Fact is, there is a reason there are laws regarding homeschooling. It's stupid and negligent to homeschool at your own whim.

LMAO. No it is not. Those laws are in place to force a child back into structured public"School". It's a joke. My mom is an extremly intelligent woman. She did a brilliant job homeschooling her children. People in communes tend to not send their kids to public school FYI ;)

No, those laws are in place to ensure that children are not being short changed on their future because of a decision made by their parents.

There should be checks and balances for a child's education.

What are you an anarchist? The system is evil no matter what? Those laws are there for the better. I didn't want a highschool drop out teaching me and I wouldn't let a highschool drop out teach my kids. Would you have the same opinion if the situation were the same but in a public school?

Lol no. It's to make sure that the stupid ass parents who are too lazy to get up and take their kids to school aren't smurfing them over for life with their "education".
That's awesome that your mom is super intelligent and was able to provide you with a good education...but not all kids are so lucky. The laws are in place for those kids.
Example....my cousin and his wife pulled their oldest out of school to "homeschool" her. Mostly because the mom can't manage to pull her boob out of her baby's mouth and drag her ass out of bed long enough to drop the kid off at school. Not to mention, she wouldn't be getting the older one's help with the little ones if she were at school all day. Then my cousin was having to do the schooling when he got home from work. What kind of education is that?

Haha, GED and Diploma the same thing...

Really?

Is a diploma from Yale the same as a diploma from Community College?

I was home schooled for a short period, it doesn't work out for some.
I also got my GED instead of graduating high school. It's definitely not the same thing, unless you are going to a simple college or getting a low paying job, then they don't care.

Al someone has to do is report it to the school board itself. I am assuming it would be like that that there as it is here.

My Grandmas neighbours were homeschooling their kids, and both parents as well as both kids were developmentally behind and those kids needed someone who could actually teach them. They sent someone out to invesitgate it and they were told to either hire someone to teach them instead or to send them to a real school. So they hired someone to come in every day to teach them.

Here you need to go to a homeschooling course to teach your own kids, if you dont have any kind of high school diploma or GED etc.....and you can go by your own teachings but they have to pass the standard school testing every 6 months, to move on further in the course etc.....The only time they dont need to be registered is if its for kindergarden, but grade 1 and up needs to be reported.

Whatever you want to believe is your opinion. When you grow up on a commune, homeschooling is a given. Like I said before, The 4 of us my mom taught all got their diplomas top of the class when we finally had to go into a wretched public school for those couple of hours. Glad it was only a 3 hour stretch then was done!!!

I "illegally" homeschooled at one point. Not completely intentionally, but I was somewhat suspicious that it wasn't entirely legal. The state filed a notice to me and I complied with the reqs, never heard another thing about it.

Actually, I would have assumed with it being a commune they would have some sort of co-operative education happening.
