BF Question

DS is one week old today. We've been exclusively breastfeeding. DS prefers my left breast. The nipple is smaller and has a slower let down. My right breast, the nipple and areola are huge. I have a pretty fast let down as well. He gags when he nurses on my left. I also can't seem to find a good position for a good latch on my right breast. Is my nipple too big for his mouth? It hurts to nurse on my right. I checked his mouth and he doesn't have thrush, not that I can see anyway and its 100% painless to nurse on my left breast. What do I do about my right boob? I don't really want to pump. He only nurses on it for about 5 min and if I'm still engorged then I hand express until it feels a bit better. I'm mainly concerned about the pain.

Nurse him on that side while laying back. It helps slow the flow. I lay down and put dd on her belly across my Timmy and she lays her head to the side and nurses. It helps a lot. But if it's engorged u may need to pump a little for awhile. He may not be able to latch as well if it's harder and the let down will be faster if it's too full. So both things he doesn't like.

I pumped the first 5 min last feeding and tried latching him. He just doesn't like that nipple. Ugh. Idk what to do. We tried for a good 30 min then he was overly frustrated and hungry so I gave in a put him on the left. Idk what to do about this. It hurts so bad when we try latching. He mainly just gets my nipple when he opens up wide. I don't understand. It's a perfect latch every time on the left but the right, my nipple is huge and it just seems like he's chewing on just my nipple. Talking about it hurts.... lol Should I try a breast shield? His mouth seems so small compared to my right nipple.

You could try a nipple shield just in that side. But idk if it'd mess up his ability to nurse on the left Maybe as he gets bigger hell have an easier time.
Could it be the hold he doesn't like? Maybe he doesn't like to lay on a certain side?

I've tried the cradle hold, football, and lying down. It's still very painful since we can't get a good latch. I dred nursing now.
