What was your weddding?

We are trying to figure out what is best for us, and I really want the traditional shebang but he doesn't want to go all out and would prefer just a courthouse no party at all. So a middle ground must be found. Just curious if traditional wedding's are still really common or not. Or maybe some suggestions would be nice. He's more worried about spending a ton of money and I told him I could put together a nice small wedding with like 500. Is it possible?

Not married, but whatever we do it's going to be TINY. I'm just not into the big wedding thing (or spending a lot of money on it, haha!)

We did courthouse, and we had a lot of people show up to watch/witness.
We're planning on a vow renewal in a few years and doing a nice big reception.

Its possible. You just need to restrict the guest list and do a lot of DIY. If the weather is nice, rent out a pavilio or hold it in a backyard. Do BBQ or Italian because those are fairly inexpensive when making it in bulk. Making italian sauce is super easy and cheap. Lasagna is really easy to make once you have sauce.

We did a big wedding. It cost us under $10k. We loved it but we did alot of DIY.

We had a traditional wedding. About 300 guests and it cost us around 10k. We did a ton of stuff ourselves. My dress was more then $500.

LOL see I'm totally fine with that! But I really want my brother to give me away, and for at least my mom and his parents to be there. We could even do it at my moms house, which I'm ok with. Congrats though! Do you have a date?

I did the big traditional thing the first time around. Cost my parents 40 grand. The marriage ended after 18 months.

The second time was at the courthouse with close friends and family, then we took them out to a nice restaurant.

Big weddings are a total money making industry, and are a waste of resources hands down, imo.

Hmmm that sounds really nice actually. I mainly just want family there and I wasn't sure if there was a limit on guests at the courthouse.

You could do courthouse and have a nice family/close friend dinner. I don't think there's a right or wrong. Or even do a church wedding but keep it small. I've seen people do a wedding and reception all in a hall. That simple and maybe cheap. If your family will help u can do food pretty cheap.

Ya it sounds stressful to plan all that out. I am sure I could make it look legit!

I think that's totally doable.

I'm not sure... he just proposed on Thursday, so we're trying to figure out if we want to do a short notice in May-June so we're married when the baby arrives, or if we want to wait. I'd like to do it in May-June, but I'm just not sure if that's doable.

Our wedding was about $5,000-6,000 I believe. We got married in a church which is something that we both wanted. I'm happy with how much we spent, it wasn't over the top just nice and simple.
