Questions about PT and screaming...

posted 18th Feb
LO is turning 2 on Saturday. If we tell LO "no" lately, she just starts SHREIKING.... really high pitched and long. Not crying. Just yelling. It's sooooo effing annoying and it hurts our ears. This is mostly at the dinner table when we tell her not to fling her entire plate of food on the floor (which seems to happen ever damn night).   What's a good, effective way to curb this and let her know it's not okay? It's hard to redirect when we're sitting at the dinner table, and I've tried, she just screams over us if we start singing or talking about something to her.

Since I'm not home during the day and my older daughter watches her during the day, what are some tips I can give her to help potty train the little one? I want something consistent. She has a little potty of her own, and will sometimes go in it, but I think it's just right place right time.

Thanks for the help!

Take her away from the table somewhere. Somewhere she can calm down on her own. Make her stay where ever you put her though until she has calmed down and when she does, then talk to her and explain to her that what she did was wrong.

As for the potty training I have no advice. DD is 3 and I still can't get her 100% interested in using the potty. :/

Any suggestions on where to put her to keep her contained? I'd have to walk her upstairs to her room I think. Anything else, she can successfully escape from. lmao

I would do time out for the screaming.

For the potty, is she telling you when she has to go? I just got the little potty out and put it in the living room or wherever we were so it was really close and she just started using it more and more.

Everyone calls her Ms. Busy... she will not sit still. I try time out, but she tries to get up and run. I tried to hold her down and kept telling her time out, but it seems so barbaric to hold her in the corner.

She will tell me if she's gone poo poo, but I dont think she understands "when" it's coming, poop or potty. Should we just wait? If the potty is out, she just tries to climb on it and takes it apart. ha ha ha

I would wait until she knows it's coming.

I tried before then and she just got frustrated. Once she knew that it was coming it was much easier.
