omg.. well you can't smoke around your child then, obviously.

I smoke and my 4 year old has yet to see a cigarette and wouldn't know what one was if she did see it.

I feel like this is a very obvious answer.

Eta: and she even has access to real cigarettes? Wtf...

Arianna used her teapot and took a "hit" from the spout, like it was a bong.

I was livid and called the ex about him smoking around Arianna, he said that she walked in on him smoking and must have saw him.

She hasn't done it since I sat with her and told her that it was caca, and yucky to smoke, and it hurt my feelings when I saw it.

She kissed me and said sorry.

Nobody in my family even smokes and dd still pretends with colored pencils and crayons. She may still be a little young but we watch those truth commercials on YouTube and talk about it. And a lot of movies have them at the beginning so we talk about it when those come on. And she's 5 now and has been pointing out people smoking in public so we talk about it then.

Where'd she get the cigarette?

We don't smoke cigarettes but we did smoke hookah before I was pregnant. My daughter knows she's not allowed to touch them and that it's yucky and will make her sick. I have seen her hold other things like cigarettes and pretend to smoke, I tell her smoking is yucky but I know when I was younger I had those candy cigarettes and we would all pretend to smoke them. Meh.

That is disgusting. How was she even able to reach the cigarettes?

I don't necessarily think it calls for your SO quitting smoking, but he should stop smoking around her. As it's obviously causing a bad influence.

Meg. I'd treat it the same as any other action I don't want my 2 year old to do

I used to pretend to smoke as a child too with the candy cigarettes and I'm not a smoker. So I don't really freak out when dd pretends. I just remind her what it does to our bodies.

I'm not sure.

Kids immitate what they see. If they see mom or dad smoking, they're going to immitate it, even if it's in play.

You don't see anything wrong with this situation aside from that she's pretending to smoke?

Like that your husband was passed out so hard that she pick pocketed him, opened the pack, took a cigarette out and put it in her mouth before anyone noticed?

Well all my friends from hs who had parents who smoked started smoking around 9th grade by stealing cigs from their parents. It's sad and something to think about I guess.

My kids have gotten ahold of my cigs before. But they never try to smoke them they just shredded them
I don't smoke around them so I guess they haven't caught on to what they are intended for.
